Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 23, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the 1Word — Daily English mobile application (the “App”) handles information. We built the App to be private by default: your learning happens on your device.
1. Who we are
The App is provided by the developer of 1Word — Daily English (“we”, “us”, “our”). If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at [email protected].
2. Information we process
Data stored on your device
Your learning data — the words you've seen, quiz results, streak, spaced-repetition schedule, selected level, native language and app settings — is stored locally on your device. We do not upload this content to our own servers.
Purchases and subscriptions
Subscriptions to 1Word Pro are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment card details. To manage entitlements and restore purchases, we use RevenueCat, which processes a purchase identifier and subscription status on our behalf.
Analytics and measurement
To understand how the App is used and to measure the effectiveness of marketing, we use Tenjin and analytics provided through RevenueCat. These tools may process:
- a random app-generated identifier that is not your name or email;
- device and app information such as device model, operating system version and app version;
- events such as app opens, onboarding steps and subscription lifecycle events;
- on iOS, an advertising identifier only if you grant permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.
If you decline the tracking permission, the App continues to work fully and no advertising identifier is used.
Notifications
If you enable notifications, we schedule your daily-word and reminder notifications locally on your device. Delivery is handled by Apple's push service.
3. How we use information
- To deliver core functionality — showing your daily word, tracking progress, streaks and reviews.
- To provide and validate your subscription and restore purchases.
- To understand usage, fix problems and improve the App.
- To measure marketing performance in aggregate.
4. Legal bases
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (providing the App and subscriptions), our legitimate interests (improving the App and measuring marketing), and your consent (for tracking via the App Tracking Transparency prompt), which you can withdraw at any time in your device settings.
5. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited data only with service providers that help us run the App — Apple (App Store, notifications), RevenueCat (subscription management) and Tenjin (analytics and attribution) — and only as needed to provide their services. Each processes data under its own privacy terms.
6. Data retention
Learning data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. Analytics and subscription records held by our service providers are retained according to their policies and for as long as needed for the purposes described above.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to data portability. Because most learning data lives only on your device, you can remove it at any time by deleting the App. For requests concerning data held by our providers, contact us at [email protected] and we will help.
8. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
9. International transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide notice within the App.
