These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the 1Word — Daily English mobile application (the “App”). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. The service

1Word — Daily English is an educational app that helps you learn English vocabulary through a daily word, pronunciation, example phrases, quizzes and spaced-repetition review. We may add, change or remove features over time to improve the App.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use the App. By using the App, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

3. License

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to use the App for your own non-commercial learning. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse-engineer or attempt to extract the source code or content of the App except as permitted by law.

4. Subscriptions and free trial

• Free features. The daily word and core habit features are available at no cost.
• 1Word Pro. Advanced features are available through an auto-renewing subscription, which may include a free trial period.
• Billing. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
• Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
• Managing and cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• Prices may vary by region and are shown in the App before purchase.

5. Refunds

Purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests are handled by Apple in accordance with the App Store terms; we are not able to process refunds directly.

6. Educational content

The App's definitions, translations, example sentences and pronunciations are provided for learning purposes. While we strive for accuracy, language is nuanced and we do not warrant that all content is free from error. The App is a learning aid and is not a substitute for professional instruction, certification or translation.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the App in any unlawful way, to interfere with its operation or security, or to access it through unauthorized means. You are responsible for keeping your device secure.

8. Intellectual property

The App, its design, name, logo and content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights in our trademarks or content beyond the license described above.

9. Third-party services

The App relies on third-party services, including Apple (App Store and notifications), RevenueCat (subscription management) and Tenjin (analytics). Your use of the App is also subject to those providers' terms where applicable.

10. Disclaimers

The App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free or that content will always be accurate.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of or inability to use the App. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

12. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if required by law. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the developer's place of residence, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
